This easy Garlic Butter recipe makes the best creamy spread for bread or rolls. It's also delicious served with steak, pasta, potatoes, vegetables and more!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter* softened to room temperature
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme leaves optional
  • 1-2 pinches salt to taste

Instructions

  • Place the softened butter in a small bowl. Add the minced garlic and stir to combine. Add the parsley, thyme and salt, to taste. Stir until well combined.
  • Spread on bread, serve with steak, corn on the cob, or steamed vegetables, or as desired.

Notes

  • If using salted butter, omit the added salt or add just a tiny bit, to taste.
  • Feel free to adapt this recipe to use your favorite fresh herbs. Besides the fresh parsley and thyme, try fresh rosemary, oregano, basil or chives.
  • To make garlic Parmesan butter, stir in 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese.
  • If you don’t have fresh herbs on hand, you can leave them out or substitute 1 teaspoon of dried Italian seasoning in their place.
  • Garlic butter may be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
