This Homemade BBQ Sauce Recipe is quick and easy to make with simple ingredients. This barbecue sauce is a little spicy, slightly sweet and perfectly tangy!

Ingredients

  • 6 ounce can tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup honey or brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, for extra spice

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to simmer over medium heat, whisking, and then reduce heat. Simmer 5-10 minutes to blend and develop the flavors, stirring often.
  • Add more water to thin the barbecue sauce if it is too thick.

Notes

  • Store BBQ sauce for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator or up to 3 months in the freezer.
