Instant Pot Cooking Tips

Over the many years that I’ve used my Instant Pot, I’ve learned some secrets that help to make sure every recipe turns out as good as I hoped it would. Here are my top tips:

  • Build Flavor: Use the sauté function of your Instant Pot to brown ground beef or other cuts of beef before pressure cooking. When you take a few extra minutes to sear the meat, you add so much flavor to your meal. (Follow individual recipe instructions for the best results.) Read more about how to get the most out of the Instant Pot sauté function.
  • Natural or Quick Release: Follow recipe instructions carefully, especially for whether to use a quick release or natural pressure release. A quick release can help to prevent overcooking foods such as pasta and a natural release can create more tender beef.
  • Use the Sauté Function: You can thicken sauces and gravy or sauté vegetables for your meal right in your Instant Pot using the sauté function. It is so easy and convenient!
  • Tips for Beginners: If you are new to using an Instant Pot, read my beginner’s guide on how to use an Instant Pot. Also see my post about how to prevent the Instant Pot burn message.
