Ham and Cheese Sliders
With ham, melty cheddar and a honey mustard spread, these ham and cheese sliders are a fun party appetizer or easy dinner. They’re baked in the oven and ready in 25 minutes!
My family has been loving sliders lately for dinner. They’re perfect for extra busy nights in between shuttling kids to sports practices and other extra curriculars. I recently shared our easy BBQ Chicken Sliders recipe, and today I’m excited to share another favorite sliders recipe: these deliciously simple ham and cheese sliders!
I first made these sliders for my son’s 2nd birthday, and these sandwiches were such the hit of the party that I had to share the recipe on the blog. That son is now 12(!) so it’s about time I updated the recipe with new photos and some improved tips. Time flies!
This ham and cheese sliders recipe features the classic flavor combination of ham, cheddar and honey mustard and it works so well here. My family loves these on Hawaiian rolls, or you could use my Honey Yeast Rolls recipe if you prefer to go the homemade route. Before baking, I brush the tops of the sliders with melted butter for extra flavor and to help the rolls get nice and golden in the oven.
Why We Love these Ham and Cheese Sliders
- So Quick and Easy! These sliders come together super quick, then you pop them in the oven to warm through. All in all, you can have these on your table in about 25 minutes.
- Versatile. I love this recipe because it works for so many occasions: a really easy dinner, after school snacks, school lunchboxes, or a party appetizer.
- Kid-Friendly. These sliders are fun to eat and perfect for little hands. The flavors are especially kid-friendly, and it’s easy to switch up the ingredients depending on your family’s preferences. See the recipe variations section below for ideas!
How to Make Ham and Cheese Sliders
Slice rolls in half, keeping the rolls attached together. Make honey mustard by whisking together the Dijon mustard, Greek yogurt (or mayonnaise) and honey.
Assemble sandwiches: Spread the honey mustard over the bottom halves of the rolls. Add the sliced ham in an even layer, followed by the shredded cheddar. Place roll tops on sandwiches and brush with melted butter.
Bake at 350° F for 8-12 minutes, until cheese is melted and sliders are warmed through. Cut sliders apart before serving, using either a sharp knife or kitchen scissors.
Recipe Variations
- Topping: I opted for a simple melted butter topping, but a garlic herb topping would be so delicious here. To make it, mix together 4 tablespoons melted butter, 3 cloves minced garlic and 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley or 1 teaspoon dried parsley; brush over tops of rolls before baking.
- Meat: Swap the ham for turkey and/or bacon.
- Cheese: Try white cheddar, provolone or Swiss.
- Other Additions: Add pickles, roasted red peppers, thinly sliced tomato or red onion.
What to Serve with Sliders
- Homemade Mac and Cheese
- Broccoli Salad
- Baked Chicken Wings
- German Potato Salad
- Fruit Salad
- Roasted Green Beans

I made these for college football Saturday and everyone loved them. Next time I’ll use a little less honey. They were a bit too sweet for some of us.
