Tips for the Best Crispy Wings

  • Buy “party-style” wings, which are already separated into flats and drumettes. This saves you the hassle of cutting the wings into flats and drumettes and trimming off the wingtips yourself.
  • Dry the wings very well before tossing them with the oil and seasonings. This helps them to get extra crispy in the oven.
  • Season them well. It may seem like there is too much seasoning but trust me it’s not.
  • Bake them on a wire rack set over a baking sheet to allow air to circulate all around each piece. Similarly, don’t overcrowd them on the rack.
  • Bake them at high temperature, 400° F.
  • Flip them halfway through the cook time to get them crispy all around.
  • Cook them to an internal temperature of 190-200° F for wings that are crispy with juicy, fall-off-the-bone meat.

Chicken Wings Dipping Sauces

What to serve with wings? Choose one (or more!) of these yummy sauces:

To Make Buffalo Wings

Let the wings rest for 2-3 minutes after baking and then toss the baked chicken wings with buffalo sauce. Serve and enjoy!

Can You Cook Them in the Air Fryer?

Yes! Use my Air Fryer Chicken Wings recipe as a guide. You will need to cook the wings in batches if using an air fryer.

Can You Use Frozen Wings?

If your chicken wings are frozen, you’ll need to thaw them in the refrigerator before making this recipe. Frozen wings won’t get crispy unless thawed and pat dry.
