Air Fryer Potatoes
These Air Fryer Potatoes are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They’re the perfect easy side dish for your favorite meals!
I have to say, I am completely addicted to cooking with my air fryer! Many of our favorite side dishes are now air fryer recipes, including Air Fryer Broccoli, Air Fryer Cauliflower and these crispy air fryer potatoes.
The air fryer makes the most perfect potatoes. The hot air that circulates around the potatoes as they cook makes the outsides deliciously crispy, while the insides cook up soft and fluffy. Whether you’re making Air Fryer French Fries, Air Fryer Potato Wedges, Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries, Air Fryer Baked Potatoes or these air fryer roasted potatoes, you are going to love the ease of cooking potatoes in the air fryer.
When it’s too hot to heat the oven, or you’re short on oven space, the air fryer comes to the rescue! With this recipe, you get all of the flavor and crispiness of Oven Roasted Potatoes without having to turn on your oven. These air fried potatoes are so irresistible, you might find yourself eating them all before they even make it to the table.
Ingredients
- Baby Potatoes: I usually use baby gold creamer potatoes, but you can also use the baby potatoes that are a variety of colors.
- Olive Oil: The oil helps the seasonings to stick to the potatoes and also helps to crisp the potatoes as they cook.
- Seasonings: I used Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt and pepper. This simple combination of seasonings gives the potatoes the best flavor! You can use other seasonings that you enjoy, such as dried thyme or dried rosemary. Dried herbs are best for air frying; if you wish to use fresh herbs you can toss them with the potatoes after cooking.
- Parmesan Cheese: The nutty, cheesy flavor of Parmesan is so good with these potatoes. I always add extra Parmesan after cooking to really make the flavor pop.

How to Make Air Fryer Potatoes
- Preheat the air fryer at 400° F for 5 minutes.
- Cut the baby potatoes in half so that the pieces are about 3/4-inch in size.
- Place the potatoes in a large bowl and drizzle with the olive oil. Sprinkle the seasonings over the potatoes and stir to evenly coat the potatoes.
- Add the grated Parmesan cheese and stir to combine.
- Put the potatoes in the air fryer basket, in a single layer.
- Air fry the potatoes until they are golden brown and crispy on the edges and tender when pierced with a fork. Toss the potatoes halfway through the cook time, either by stirring or by shaking the air fryer basket.
How Long to Air Fry Potatoes
I air fry potatoes at 400° F because the high temperature helps to crisp the edges of the potatoes. At this temperature, they will take about 14 minutes to cook. This cook time is for halved baby potatoes that are about 3/4-inch in size. The cook time may vary slightly between different brands of air fryers.
Air Fryer Potatoes Recipe Tips
- This recipe works best with baby potatoes. I have tried “roasting” russet, yukon gold and red potatoes in the air fryer and they don’t turn out as crispy.
- Dry the potatoes well after washing. You don’t want any moisture left on them when you toss the potatoes with the oil and seasonings.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. The potatoes will be crispiest if there is room for the air to circulate around each piece. Cook them in batches as needed.
- If cooking in batches, you can put all of the potatoes back in the air fryer once they are all cooked and cook for 1-2 minutes to reheat earlier batches. This way, you can serve all of the potatoes hot at the same time.
- For the most flavor, you can add more garlic powder, Parmesan cheese and salt after cooking, to taste.
- If you prefer to use fresh minced garlic instead of garlic powder, don’t add it to the potatoes from the beginning. Instead, wait and toss it with the potatoes during the last 3-4 minutes of cooking so it doesn’t burn. You can return the potatoes to the mixing bowl, stir in the garlic, and then put them back in the air fryer.
Serving Suggestions
These air fryer potatoes are one of the most versatile side dishes – they go with just about anything! They’re perfect for serving with Air Fryer Salmon, Air Fryer Chicken Breast and Air Fryer Chicken Thighs. We also love them with Turkey Burgers, Instant Pot Pork Chops (they’re so good with the extra honey garlic sauce!), Grilled Chicken Thighs and Baked Chicken Breast.
If you have leftover potatoes, you can serve them with eggs for breakfast, or add them to a salad for lunch.
Storage & Reheating Instructions
The best way to reheat these potatoes is in the air fryer. Just a few minutes at 375° F will heat them through and crisp them up again. Or, toss them on a baking sheet and heat them in a 400° F oven until hot. Sometimes when I have just a few leftover air fried potatoes, I’ll add them to a pan of roasted vegetables during the last few minutes of cooking. You can also reheat the potatoes in the microwave, but they won’t turn out crispy.
