Ingredients You’ll Need
These turkey tacos are full of flavor thanks to a delicious blend of taco seasonings and packed with protein from turkey meat and black beans. Here’s a look at the recipe ingredients.
- Olive Oil: For sautรฉing the onion and bell pepper.
- Onion: Use yellow or red onion depending on what you have on hand.
- Bell Pepper: A great way to add color, flavor, and a veggie. Any color of bell pepper works so use what you like best.
- Ground Turkey: A good source of lean protein. You can substitute ground chicken or even ground beef.
- Black Beans: Adding a can of black beans makes the taco meat go farther. The beans also add additional protein and fiber.
- Seasonings: Chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt and pepper combine to make a flavorful taco seasoning. You can adjust the amount of chili powder to your tastes. For extra spice, add a dash or two of cayenne pepper.
- Tomato Sauce and Water: These make the taco meat moist and flavorful. This is especially important since turkey meat tends to be drier than ground beef.
- Tortillas: Wrap up the taco filling in small corn or flour tortillas. Use corn tortillas or other gluten free tortillas if you need the meal to be gluten-free.
